If you use an iPhone, it's a no-brainer to buy the latest AirPods Pro 2. While you can use any true wireless earbuds with an iPhone, the AirPods just works better. The same goes for Samsung smartphones and its Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. That's how these big tech firms lock you into their ecosystem. Now, if you're using Android phones from other brands, there's a whole wide world of true wireless earbuds that you can choose from. Here are five of our current favourites.
Creative Outlier Pro

For affordable wireless earbuds that will keep going like an Energizer bunny, get the Creative Outlier Pro (S$99). These earbuds may be bulkier (and less comfortable) than most, but that's more than compensated by the excellent battery life. It lasted around 13 hours streaming music with ANC enabled. The hybrid active noise cancellation (ANC) is good, too, though the audio quality may be a tad too bass-heavy for some.
Google Pixel Buds Pro

Google's Pixel Buds Pro are one of the more expensive recommendations here at S$289, but they are worth it. Thanks to the excellent ANC, and smart features, these earbuds, which are also more comfortable than previous Google earbuds, will work seamlessly with your Android phone. Sure, Pixel phones may get a slight advantage in the future when spatial audio support is added for them, but for now, it's a level playing field.
Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2

The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 may look like some cheap AirPods knockoff, but they actually sound pretty good. The bass is strong, and there's good clarity, which is unsurprising since audio brand Devialet is responsible for tuning the earbuds. ANC is also solid, and doesn't apply strong pressure on your ears. And at S$268, the FreeBuds are definitely cheaper than Apple's latest earbuds.
JBL Live Pro+ TWS

Comfy, with great battery life, and a satisfying bass, the JBL Live Pro+ TWS is a good choice for its mid-range price (S$229). The bass, especially, is very strong, but not to the point of being overpowering. Battery life is respectable, with over 6 hours with ANC on. Minor grouse to note: the touch controls are a tad too sensitive.
Sony WF-1000XM4

Probably the best pair of wireless earbuds here for those who value audio quality, the Sony WF-1000XM4 marries its top-notch sound with equally-impressive ANC. The noise isolation from its unique polyurethane foam material is great, too. Battery life is superb — you'll easily get around 8 hours of uptime with noise cancelling on. However, it's also one of the pricier models here at S$299 — after discounts.
