Ask you dad what he wants for his birthday, and chances are he will act shy and mumble something about not needing anything. Or maybe I'm completely wrong and he secretly has an Amazon wish list. In any case, Father's Day is right around the corner (Jun 19), so it's time to start thinking what to get him. Perhaps a gadget to help him with domestic drudgery, or to ensure he's hitting his fitness goals. Here are five gadget gift ideas.
Sony WF-1000XM4

Despite launching exactly a year ago, the Sony WF-1000XM4 is still our go-to wireless earbuds for great audio and noise cancellation. The latter is top-notch, so he can enjoy his tunes (with good solid bass and wide soundstage) on his commute. Battery life, too, is impressive — you will get the advertised eight hours. It's also cheaper now (S$309) than at launch, with prices dipping by a fair bit.
Oppo Watch Free

The Oppo Watch Free is one of the few wearables that has a snore monitoring feature. Yes, he may not admit it's a problem, but this entry-level S$129 smartwatch should clear things up. Besides snore detection, the Oppo also does the usual fitness and health monitoring — it has over 100 workout modes and measures blood oxygen levels, too. And because it has fewer features, its battery life is excellent. It will last up to two weeks on a single charge.
Ecovacs Deebot T9+

Free up his time from cleaning the house with the Ecovacs Deebot T9+. This robot vacuum comes with plenty of features, including a built-in air freshener, a mopping module, and an auto-cleaning docking station. The docking station, especially, can store up to 30 days of dirt, so he doesn't have to empty the bin as frequently. The Deebot can also mop the floor, albeit only with water. It's not cheap at S$859 with the auto-empty station, but it's worth it.
PlayStation Plus Extra

First off, while we reviewed the revamped PS Plus Deluxe subscription, we highly recommend getting the slightly cheaper PS Plus Extra instead. Anyway, most dads probably have limited game time. Hence, he may be better off with a monthly gaming subscription that lets him try a diverse selection of games at his own pace instead of chasing the latest AAA title. Besides, the PS Plus Extra catalog include multiplayer co-op gems like Overcooked! 2 that can be enjoyed together as a family. Similarly, an Xbox Series S with an Xbox Game Pass subscription works, too.
Asus Zenbook 14 OLED

If his laptop is getting a little long in the tooth, the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED is a great upgrade option. This sleek ultrabook hits the sweet spot in terms of performance and portability. Its 14-inch OLED screen also looks pretty sweet, and there are enough ports that you don't need a dongle. It's also very competitively priced at S$1,899.
