If you're only going to buy one big-ticket gadget this year, then you'll probably want a good one. The economy isn't doing the best now, but perhaps you feel like you deserve a treat for your hard work. To be clear, these items aren't necessities. But they will definitely be worth it, and you'll love using them. So without further ado, here are our five recommended big-ticket gadgets.
Acer Predator X32 FP
If you're looking for a 4K monitor to be your command centre for all your computing and gaming devices, consider the Acer Predator X32 FP. It has more input ports than most monitors, so you can connect it to everything from game consoles to PCs to USB storage drives — at the same time. This premium mini-LED monitor also offers good blacks (for a non-OLED model), but it's not entirely free of blooming and halo effects. It's pricey, though, which doesn't help its cause against OLED monitors.
Apple Studio Display
If you want to get the best display for your MacBook or Mac, you can't go wrong with Apple's own Apple Studio Display. This 5K monitor scales perfectly with macOS' intended 218ppi pixel density design, unlike 4K monitors. This means that for a 4K monitor, macOS needs to virtually scale up to 5K resolution before lowering it by a scale of two. But on the 5K Apple Studio Display, this is natively scaled for a clearer image.
Hisense A85H OLED Pro Smart TV
The Hisense A85H delivers great picture quality, as you'd expect from an OLED TV. The speakers are also surprisingly good. Its two HDMI 2.1 ports means this TV is suitable for gaming with the latest console or PC. Overall, the A85H is a solid OLED TV that's cheaper than the ones from top brands, albeit with some minor but annoying bugs.
Steriluxe Aurra Pro 2
There are a lot of water dispensers in the market now, but the Steriluxe Aurra Pro 2 stands out with its large LCD display and IoT smarts. Made by Malaysian company Snaptec, and officially distributed by Steriluxe, this machine has everything you need, with filtered cold and hot water, and tracks your water consumption. You can also monitor the latter via an app on your phone, and in the future, get reward points for drinking water.
