Ever since my tower fan broke down, I've been looking for a good replacement. The Xiaomi Smartmi Standing Fan 3 isn't a tower, but does an even better job of moving air, and keeping me cool. It connects to an app so you can remotely control it, or you could use the bundled remote control, too. There's also a built-in 20 hour battery. It's a seriously good fan for our hot and humid climate.
Quick specs
- Weight: 3.5kg
- 2,800mAh battery, 25W rated power

The Smartmi Standing Fan 3 comes in a compact box, and you'll need to assemble it. It's easy, and you'll have it up, and ready to go in less than five minutes. Once done, you'll have to pair it with your Xiaomi Home app. If your remote doesn't work, hold down the two buttons near the fan. Once you hear the beep, press the button on top of the fan, and it's paired.

The design is clean and simple. The fan has seven plastic blades. There's a natural wind mode, which is soft and gentle. I didn't find it to be any good, but you may like it. There are four wind speeds, and at the highest level it isn't very noisy either. The fan also rotates up to 120 degrees, which is great for covering the entire space. If you want finer control, the app lets you set the exact fan speed you want, as well as turn on the negative ions mode.

Cleaning is easy, you just pop open the cover, and wipe it down. Do note that you'll have to remove the safety screw first. I chose not to put the screw in so it's easier to remove and clean. Unlike other fans, this Smartmi fan comes with a built-in 2,800mAh battery. It's rated for 20 hours, which is honestly really long. I once left it unplugged by accident, and only realised after it stopped after two days of use in the day. This means you can move it around easily without needing to keep it plugged in, too.
At S$138, the Xiaomi Smartmi Fan 3 is good buy. If you're looking for a fan that has a few more features than usual, get this. I love that it's actually portable, so I could possibly bring it to a outdoor picnic, for example. It's much better than the crappy Xiaomi Leshow SS4 Smart Bladeless Standing Fan. Buy it from Shopee or Lazada.
