The Xiaomi Magnetic Wireless Power Bank (P05ZM) has a very generic name. However, it's actually made for the iPhone. Of course, you can't have Xiaomi, an Android smartphone maker, throw terms like “Apple iPhone” and “MagSafe compatible” into its product names. So here we are. The standout feature for this product is a dock for convenient recharging of the power bank.
Quick specs
- 12mm thick
- 5,000mAh, USB-C bidirectional charging
- MagSafe compatible (unofficial)
Available in white, this Xiaomi power bank is MagSafe compatible. This means it will magnetically attach to the back of your iPhone 12 series (or newer). It attaches very firmly, and I never felt it would drop off unintentionally. I can hold just the edges of the power bank and shake vigorously without worrying about my iPhone 13 (no case) falling. It is quite slim for a 5,000mAh power bank, compared to many other third-party iPhone wireless battery packs.

The Xiaomi Magnetic Wireless Power Bank charges an iPhone quite quickly at 7.5W. The USB-C port can also charge other products — at an even faster 10W. It won't charge a depleted iPhone 13 fully, but can get it up to about 80%. While it's MagSafe compatible, it is not MagSafe certified. This means the power bank's battery level does not appear in iOS. It's actually the main fault of the power bank, as there's no easy way to see how much charge it has. It has just one LED on its single button that lights up in either green or orange. If it's green, you're good to go, if orange, charge soon.

You can charge up the power bank via its USB-C port, or just drop it in its charging dock. This is most useful for someone who intends to leave it on the iPhone all the time. You use your phone with it attached, and just drop the entire thing into the dock at the end of the day. Next morning, just pick it up and go about your day with a fully-charged phone and battery pack. For those who use it only occasionally, the dock is less useful. I don't use the battery pack daily, but only on long trips or if I forget to charge my phone. Because I don't need to charge the power bank daily, having a single-purpose dock take up precious table space doesn't make much sense.
At S$55 on Shopee, the Xiaomi Magnetic Wireless Power Bank is inexpensive compared to Apple's original battery pack. I wholeheartedly recommend it for someone who would use it daily as the charging dock is a big plus. For everyone else, it's not a bad buy, but realistically, there are better choices with useful features like built-in kickstand and charge-level indicator. Get it from Shopee.
