Vivo X60 Pro review: Steady beautiful shots

Vivo X60 Pro

There's plenty to like about the Vivo X60 Pro, which features a gimbal system for the camera, Zeiss lenses, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 octa-core processor. The phone feels premium, the 6.56-inch AMOLED 120Hz screen is bright and vibrant, easily making it a “Can Buy” in our books.

Quick specs

  • 6.56-inch AMOLED display, 120Hz, HDR10+
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G processor
  • 12GB RAM, 256GB storage
  • 4200 mAh battery

Let's talk about the three cameras the X60 Pro has: A 48MP f1.5 wide, a 13MP f2.5 telephoto, and a 13MP f2.2 ultra-wide. They are housed in a raised rectangle which also features the Zeiss logo. Vivo teamed up with the German optics maker for the phone's lenses. Intriguingly, the X60 Pro features a gimbal for image and video stabilisation. This allows it to remain stable even in shaky conditions, and helps with low-light images.

My tests showed that videos remained pretty stable even when I was bouncing up and down while running. The gimbal also helps when taking low-light shots, though you should still keep your hand as still as possible. I really like how the pictures turned out. Outdoor shots looked lovely, and night mode worked like a charm, though it can still be noisy. I also liked playing around with the slow shutter mode — you can take pretty cool light trail shots with it. The front 32MP front shooter has an interesting feature that teaches you how to selfie pose using an outline, but I had trouble getting the pose right. Guess I'm not meant for selfies.

If you're looking for a good-looking phone, the Vivo X60 Pro is it. The curved edges and its shimmery blue back makes the phone stand out. It definitely oozes appeal. The Android 11-powered Funtouch OS is also easy to use. I had no issues with the phone's performance, too, while gaming. Battery life is also good and the phone lasted around 14hr 58min in our tests. It also comes with its own 33W fast charger, but take note that QuickCharge chargers don't seem to fast charge. You'll get about 50% charge in 30 minutes with the bundled charger. There is no wireless charging.

Retailing at S$1,199, the Vivo X60 Pro costs a lot less than the competition, such as the Oppo Find X3 Pro, but also more than say, the Xiaomi Mi 11. Its excellent camera, fast performance, 5G, and all-day battery life makes this phone one to consider. Get it from Shopee, Lazada, and Amazon (US).
