Ulti Aura RGB Monitor Arm review: Nice bling

Ulti Aura RGB Monitor Arm

A monitor arm is the last thing I'd expect to have RGB lights, but it is surprisingly nice. The RGB lights on the Ulti Aura RGB Monitor Arm aren't garish, and quite subtle. Not to mention you probably won't see the lights as much since your monitor will likely obscure part of the arm.

Quick specs

  • Fits 17-inch to 32-inch monitors, up to 9kg
  • Height up to 460mm, length up to 552mm
  • Over 20 lighting options

Depending on your setup, you may be able to arrange the arm for a better view of the RGB lights. After all, the arm stretches out to around 552mm, which is plenty. That's 4cm longer than the Prism+ Arc Stealth Pro. This reach is especially nice if your desk is longer, and you want your monitor closer to you. The arm supports monitor sizes of up to 32-inch, and weighing up to 9kg. The VESA plate works for 100mm or 75mm mounts, and has a lock to keep your monitor in place.

The base of the arm will fit in a standard grommet hole. My desk is relatively thick at over 6cm, but there were no issues mounting the base. It takes about 30 minutes to set up, but it's quite simple — there's just one extra step compared with the usual monitor arm. You will need to plug the USB power cable for the RGB lights through the hole in the arm, but that's quite easy to do. You will also need to adjust the tension of the spring in the arm if your monitor is too heavy or too light. However, the supplied Allen key didn't quite fit. I had to use my own Allen key — that's probably the only issue I had with the arm.

To turn on the RGB lights, you need to press and hold the button. The lights aren't too bright, which is nice. There are over twenty settings that you can cycle through by tapping on the button. It's a shame you can't sync it with your PC's settings. You also cannot adjust the brightness. I like that the cable management options hide the cables at both the top and middle parts, and you can then further route the cables through the base.

At S$99.90, the Ulti Aura RGB Monitor Arm is very competitively priced. If you need two monitor arms, there's a dual version of the Aura, though it's only available from mid-June. The build quality is good, too. Get it directly from Ulti, or through Shopee and Lazada.
