Ugreen 100W 2-in-1 GaN Charging Station review: Perfect combo

Ugreen 100W 2-in-1

As far as GaN chargers go, this Ugreen 100W 2-in-1 GaN Charging Station is quickly becoming a favourite. It features a MagSafe charger that folds up, as well as two USB-C ports and one USB-A. I like that I can charge my iPhone at the same time, while also powering three other devices.

Quick specs

  • 100W charging
  • 2x USB-C, 1x USB-A, MagSafe wireless charging
  • 92 x 60 x 60 mm

This Ugreen stands out for being a 2-in-1. Most chargers are either designed to charge laptops, or just for phones like the Belkin BoostCharge 15W Wireless Charging Stand. So having a charger that I can use as a phone stand while also charging my other devices? Perfect. And the good news is that it is MagSafe certified, which means your iPhone will show the MagSafe animation when it starts charging. You can also stick your Apple AirPods or any Qi-compatible device on top to charge. When not in used, the MagSafe pad folds flat down.

Even with the larger iPhone 15 Pro Max, the phone doesn't block the ports or press down on the cables. However, you will have to remove the phone or move the charging pad backwards if you want to switch cables. Speaking of ports, this 100W GaN charger's three ports deliver differing amounts of power. Both USB-C ports can output 100W when used alone, which also means no wireless charging. Meanwhile, the USB-A has a max of 22.5W. The wireless charging pad will always output 15W max due to MagSafe requirements. If both USB-C ports are plugged in, then you get a 65W/30W split. One USB-C and the MagSafe charger will be 65W and 15W respectively. If you're using the USB-C and USB-A, then it's split 65W and 22.5W.

Things get a bit tricky when you plug in all three ports together, you get 45W, 30W on the USB-C ports, and 22.5W on USB-A. With all four ports in use, the USB-C ports put out 45W and 25W, while the USB-A drops to 10W, and the MagSafe charger continues to power on at 15W. Still, the overall charging speed remains decent even with everything plugged in.

At US$180 (~S$245), the Ugreen 100W 2-in-1 GaN Charging Station is pretty expensive. But it will replace a bunch of chargers on your desktop. In fact, it's the only one I use now to charge my laptop, phone, and other accessories at my desk. Get it from Amazon US.
