The Man Bag Day Sling review: Almost perfect

Man Bag Co Day Sling

The Man Bag Co Day Sling is quite an excellent crossbody bag. It features plenty of pockets, a magnetic clasp, and a waterproof material to keep your stuff dry. My only complaint is that the straps aren't easy to adjust, and they don't stay tight — they slowly comes loose.

Quick specs

  • Waterproof Cordura fabric
  • Padded for protection and comfort
  • Can be worn as sling or fanny

I've been using the Day Sling for two weeks now, and I like how comfortable it is. There are three separate compartments clad in bright orange, two front ones, and a hidden one at the back. The frontmost compartment has two main pockets and a 40cm keychain loop. The main section has six partitions where you can pack a ton of stuff. The biggest partition is fleece-lined, which help keeps your phone, or Kobo reader scratch free. The backmost compartment has two small pockets for SIM or SD cards, as well as space for your phone. You can put a lot of stuff in it, though I mostly kept my wallet, name card holder, spare battery pack, and car keys. There's still ample space for a compact camera, too.

When worn, the Day Sling has sufficient padding so it doesn't rub against your body. The waterproof Cordura uses recycled materials, and keeps water out. When worn crossbody, it's snug and comfortable. You can also wear it around your waist like a fanny pack, or loosen the straps and use it as a sling. Regardless of how you wear it, the zips are easy to open and close, though not the ones at the back.

As mentioned, the straps don't stay in place. They use a simple slider system, and there's no lock on the slider. So they will come loose over time. There is a piece of plastic that keeps the strap down, but it doesn't do anything to secure it. I wish it had a quick release system instead. Otherwise, the magnetic Fidlock clasp is easy to close and unlock, just tug the string to open.

At S$79, the Man Bag Co Day Sling is a worthy bag. It's almost perfect, though the strap sliders could use some improvement. Get it directly from Man Bag Co, use code CANBUY10 for a 10% discount.
