The Tefal RK7401 is a 1.5L multi-functional rice cooker that does it all, from cooking fluffy rice, porridge to steaming food, boiling soup and more. Like standard rice cookers, it comes with a measuring cup, and also has standard water level indicators.
Quick specs

To make rice, just press the Rice button on the panel and hit start. You’ll get perfect, fluffy rice in just 40 minutes. It also doesn’t scorch the bottom grains when you leave it on to keep your food warm, even after four hours. I also used the congee, soup, claypot, steam, and delay-start features, making claypot rice, chinese herbal soup and even a beef stew.
As much as I want to be the perfect mother who whips up perfect meals for my two under six years old kids, I can only stick to one pot meals. That’s because I spend most of my time running a restaurant, and ironically, cook little at home. So the Tefal RK7401 is perfect for those who want a versatile fuss free rice cooker. Do note though, the timer function doesn’t go below 30 minutes, so you will have to manually time things for tasks like steaming eggs.
Considering that I am planning to use it at least four times a week for the next three years, the $138 Tefal RK7401 looks like a great deal — as each use comes down to less than what you pay for a takeaway container in Singapore. Its range of features means I will be able to whip up a meal easily.
The Tefal RK7401 Rice Cooker is available online at various e-tailers for S$139. It comes with a two year warranty as well.
