Sony Inzone H5 review: Affordable wireless sound

Sony Inzone H5

The Sony Inzone H5 headphones are pretty good. You get excellent sound with spatial audio, it's comfortable to wear, and doesn't break the bank. I do wish the microphone is removable, but otherwise, it swings upwards, and out of your way when not in use. For just S$179, what's not to like?

Quick specs

  • Dongle works on PC or PS5
  • 260g
  • 40mm driver, volume dial at the side

The on-ears Inzone H5 sits just above the Inzone H3, and below the Inzone H7. It doesn't have the noise cancellation of the H9, but comes with everything else you need. Both headsets look very similar, and I like the sleek, minimalist design. It's really comfortable to wear, better than the Razer Blackshark V2 HyperSpeed I feel. It helps that the earcups uses fine fabric that's nice to touch, while the headphones don't clamp too hard on the ears. Passive noise isolation is decent, comparable to the Blackshark V2. You can still hear loud noises, but you'll need to remove a earcup to make out someone speaking to you when you have a game or music in the background.

The 260g weight also means these headphones don't feel too heavy, and rest comfortably on top of your head. If you want to enable spatial sound, you'll need to download the Inzone Hub. You'll also need to set it up by taking a photo of your ear. If you've already done so with other Sony products, then you simply need to log in, and the settings are restored. In terms of sound, the Inzone H5 is pretty good. You get a nice soundstage with clear mids and highs. Vocals are really clear. While you do get some decent bass, it isn't as punchy as I would like. It's there but not as powerful. Spatial sound is pretty good, it really helps to immerse you in the game, such as Cyberpunk 2077 (which I tested with).

The microphone is also pretty good, and uses an AI-powered noise reduction algorithm. It does sound like there's a bit of compression when that kicks in, but otherwise it sounds very clear. When you flip the microphone arm up, it's automatically muted, too. Battery life is decent, you get a max of 28 hours. That's less than a week of use if you use it almost every day, so you'll need to recharge it at least once a week. However, a quick 10-minute charge will easily give you three hours of use.

At S$179, the Sony Inzone H5 is a pretty good pickup. I like how it sounds, and just how comfortable it is to wear. The nice, sleek design is also easy on the eyes, too. Get it from Shopee or Lazada.
