Shark CleanSense IQ+ Vacuum Cleaner review: Lightweight power

Shark CleanSense IQ+ Vacuum Cleaner

I quite like the Shark CleanSense IQ+ Vacuum Cleaner. It's a lightweight stick vacuum, smart enough to crank up the power, and has an automatic disposal bin that charges the vacuum. It's also priced very competitively at S$899 — almost half the price of say, the Samsung Bespoke Jet AI which has similar features.

Quick specs

  • Dust cup: 0.42L
  • Wattage: 260W (air watts not revealed)
  • 2-year warranty
  • Accessories: Duster Crevice Tool, Wide Upholstery Tool, Motorized Hand Tool, Pet-Multi Tool, Auto-Empty Dock

The Shark CleanSense IQ+ Vacuum I reviewed comes with a bunch of accessories. You get a Pet Multi Tool, Motorized Hand Tool, Duster Crevice Tool, and a Wide Upholstery Tool. There's also a dock, which charges, and also empties the vacuum's bin. There's an indicator to tell you when it's full. Shark says it has enough space for up to 30 days of dirt. I do note that dirt isn't stored in a bag. Instead, you have to lift it up from the base and empty the container. I do prefer if the collected dirt was stored in a bag, though, as that makes it easier for disposal.

The main hybrid clean floor nozzle does a great job by itself. It can automatically detect floor type, edges, dirt, and increases the light when it's too dark. But the light isn't as good as the Dyson V12s' Optic laser. It doesn't quite show up dirt and hair on my marble or laminate floors. But if you're dealing with bigger pieces of debris, it's alright. If you're worried that the floor isn't clean enough, the display at the top of the vacuum has an indicator to tell you when it's clean. It's also reflected on the floor roller. Once the color turns green, you're good to move to a new spot.

In my tests, the Shark CleanSense IQ+ Vacuum Cleaner was able to up the power when I put the vacuum near the sides of the wall. This only works on the left and right sides of the roller. If the front is flushed against the wall, it doesn't ramp up the power. If the vacuum detects more dirt, it will increase the power, too. The floor nozzle features an anti-hair wrap, and after about two weeks of testing, the brushroll remained clear of hair. Pretty neat. Other things I liked are the Flex Wand, which lets you bend the vacuum down to the ground. Battery life is good, up to 32 minutes in Eco mode with the stick and floor module. I used it mostly in Eco mode, and had about 75% left each time after cleaning my two-bedroom apartment.

The Shark CleanSense IQ+ Vacuum Cleaner starts at S$799 (without dock) and S$899 (with dock). It's a great lightweight stick vacuum that will fit well in most homes, and also doesn't take up much space. Suction power is great, too. Get it from Lazada, Shopee, or Shark.
