Samsung has announced its latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. They have a more refined design: Marginally thinner and lighter than the previous Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, while the gap when closed is now narrow enough to be an non-issue.

The biggest change: The Galaxy Z Flip 5 gets a larger 3.4-inch Cover Screen (up from 1.9-inch) that lets you see and do more. Hardware-wise, it's mostly the same for these phones compared with their predecessors, they sport similar cameras, battery capacity (with the same middling 25W wired charging), and are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip you'll find in the Galaxy S23 phones.

Pricing is unchanged for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 (from S$2,398), but the Z Flip 5 now starts at S$100 more at S$1,498. The new phones are available for preorder now at the official Samsung Store (Lazada) with earliest delivery from Aug 4. Freebies for those who preorder: Storage upgrade, free 1-year Samsung Care+ Screen Care, as well as a free one-time screen replacement within the policy period, and free S$50 accessories voucher.

Besides the foldable phones, Samsung also launched the Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic with a 20% larger and brighter screen, slimmer bezels, and bigger batteries. Not to mention that WhatsApp is now available for the smartwatch so you can send voice and text messages, and even take calls. Prices start from S$448 for the Watch 6 and S$598 for the Classic.

There's also a new Galaxy Tab S9 tablet series (available in 11-inch, 12.4-inch, and 14.6-inch sizes) that is now IP68 certified (even the S Pen is IP68), and comes with improved displays, and new optimised apps (GoodNotes, LumaFusion and ArcSite). Prices start from S$1,128 for the Tab S9.
