Designed for the Sony console, the PlayStation 5 Pulse 3D Wireless Headset features 3D audio that aims to expand your gaming experience. I've been using one for about two weeks now, and playing Returnal on it has made the experience just that much more immersive.
Quick specs
- 12 hour battery life
- 2.4GHz wireless dongle, or 3.5mm wired
- USB-C port for charging
Plugged into the PS5, the Pulse 3D headset delivers 3D audio from games that support it. Do note that the 3D audio also works with other wireless headsets, not just the Pulse 3D. The sound stage is expansive, especially when gaming. The 3D audio kicks in to warn you when bullets are whizzing behind or above you. I also loved how wide the sound is, especially for music playback. Highs are clear, mids are detailed, and the bass is strong without overpowering the mids. Given that you'll mostly use this for gaming, listening to music probably won't be high on your list.

Located on the left ear cup are the controls, and there are plenty. First up are the the volume buttons, which are similar in feel to the chat and game buttons. This makes it quite hard to tell them apart until you get used to their locations. The chat and game control the balance between chat audio and game audio, in case you're wondering. There's a mic monitoring button, but that only seems to work with the PS5, I couldn't get it to work on the PC. It lets you hear how you sound to your teammates. The hidden dual mic array has noise cancellation, but I didn't find the quality of the mic to be that good while doing a recording test. My voice sounded faint and hollow.

Battery life of the Pulse 3D Wireless Headset is rated at 12 hours. I was able to game for about four days without needing a recharge at an average of about two to three hours a day. If the battery does run out, you can still plug in a 3.5mm cable and use it as a wired headset. This also allows you to use the headset with the PSVR as well. The Pulse 3D is comfortable at the start, but if you're wearing glasses, it can get a little painful after a while.
The S$149 Pulse 3D Wireless Headset is a great add-on for your PlayStation 5 if you don't already have a wireless headset. If you're still using a wired headset and want to do away with the cables, this is a good option. Just bear in mind it doesn't quite work too well with non-PS5 devices such as your PC or Mac. Get it at Shopee, Lazada or Amazon, but note that high demand has increased the price here. Consider getting it at US$99 from Amazon US instead.
