MSI Computex 2024: What caught our eyes

MSI Computex 2024

While Asus and Acer took the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite route for some of their new notebooks, rival MSI decided to showcase its upcoming Intel Lunar Lake-powered laptops and handhelds instead, though they were locked behind glass displays.

These Intel Lunar Lake models, which will support Microsoft Copilot+, are set to debut later this year. Meanwhile, the laptops refreshed with AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chips will be available soon. One of these Intel Lunar Lake devices secured behind glass is a refreshed MSI Claw with an 8-inch display, making it almost the same size as the Lenovo Legion Go.

Coming soon to Singapore and clad in a carbon fibre finish is the MSI Stealth 18 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport collaboration. It sports a massive 18-inch 4K Mini-LED 120Hz display, and is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080. Expect an equally hefty price tag.

MSI also showed off an AI-powered monitor, the MEG 321URX QD-OLED. It features a 4K UHD QD-OLED panel, and has AI-powered features. For example, in Monster Hunter games, it will scan the mini-map, and help highlight threats. It can also track in-game data such as your health or ammo, and use the lightbar under the monitor to give you information in real time.

These AI features will not require any third-party extensions to tell the monitor what to do. You can also train models, and upload them to the monitor. It's interesting for sure, but it may give you an unfair edge in competitive multiplayer games, especially the mini-map scanning with threat highlights.

We also saw new productivity monitors, such as the 24.5-inch 120Hz Pro MP252 E2 with a very slim bezel. I honestly can't wait to set up a few of these together to get a seamless desktop experience. I'm guessing the 120Hz refresh rate will also let you chill and play games at the end of the day.

Check back soon once we get our hands on the new gear from MSI Computex 2024.
