HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer review: Home office upgrade

HP OfficeJet Pro 9010

If working from home is all you do these days, then perhaps your new home office is in need of an upgrade. That's where the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer comes in. The all-in-one printer lets you print (of course), fax, copy, and scan easily with very minimal setup. It's also perfect for a small office that needs a versatile machine that does it all.

Quick specs

  • Paper size: A4, B5, legal, letter
  • 250-sheet input tray
  • up to 22 pages per minute (black), up to 18 ppm (color)
  • HP Thermal Inkjet technology

Like the HP Envy 6020 printer, the OfficeJet Pro 9010 is easy to set up. You can use the HP Smart App to get the printer up and running, or manually connect to your Wi-Fi network via the 2.65-inch touch display. As with HP's printers, the Smart app lets you print, scan copy or even fax someone from the app. You can also perform most of the functions from the touchscreen. The printer also has an ethernet port, along with Wi-Fi and two RJ-11 ports (for faxing).

Speed-wise, the OfficeJet Pro is a lot faster than the HP Envy 6020 by a mile. It only took 32 seconds to print out 10 pages compared with 2 minutes and 30 seconds of the Envy 6020. This was with the same document. Color images will be a bit slower, of course. The printer also does two-sided printing. Since it's also designed for use in a small office, you can also scan images and the printer will send them to an email, network folder, Sharepoint or a USB. You can also set up Google Drive and Dropbox to receive your scans, too. This will require some setup on your end though. Scan quality is pretty good, and the printer also does OCR for documents to make them editable.

I did want to try out the fax feature, but I've been unable to actually find someone to send a fax to. Because it has two RJ-11 ports, you can use the printer as a high-tech fax machine as well. Again, I couldn't test this since I have no landline to test with. The HP app also lets you send a fax through your mobile phone. Honestly, you're better off just emailing. Inside, the printer uses four cartridges and four print heads. You can also do AirPrint and Wi-Fi Direct printing.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 is a great printer for the home office or a smaller workplace that needs a fax machine replacement. It's available on Shopee and Lazada for as low as S$299. Additional cartridges will cost you around S$28, with each cartridge being able to last around 700 pages of printing for color, and 1,000 for black. You will need a total of four (black, cyan, magenta, and yellow). There's also a S$37 XL cartridge that can print double the amount of pages. Lastly, here's a third-party dust cover you can grab for when you're not using the printer, and feel free to grab 500 sheets of paper from Amazon for just S$3.80.
