Foldable Adjustable Laptop Stand review: Cheap and useful

Foldable Adjustable Laptop Stand

Working from home means you don't necessarily need to work sitting at the desk. There's where this unbranded Foldable Adjustable Laptop Stand comes in. It features three adjustable points, enough space for the largest of notebooks, and an attachable mouse table. It's great buy for around S$20.

Quick specs

  • Up to 15kg of weight
  • Max height is 428mm with a base
  • For laptops 17-inch and below

When you first see it, this foldable stand lies flat and compact. At the end of each of the foldable segments is a button with angle markings. To unfold, all you need to do is push down the button and adjust the height and angle. The markings help you to keep it consistent on both sides, but you can eyeball it. It took me some time to understand the angles and get comfortable with the elevation. Good news though, the laptop stand comes with a guide of suggested positions.

You can also set it up as a mini table, or use it to create a standing work desk by elevating your laptop higher. I liked using it while sitting on the sofa, such as when typing this review. I could elevate the stand enough such that it didn't even rest on my thighs. It helps to keep the laptop cooler since the stand has vents to help disperse heat. Previously, when I did not use a stand, I found my MacBook Pro getting ridiculously hot since I was resting it on a cushion. You can also choose to buy the version which comes with a fan. The laptop stand is sturdy, and doesn't wobble whether on the sofa or the table. It stretches to around 428mm at the highest with the bottom segment folded at 90 degrees.

The mouse pad attachment is useful if you prefer using a mice for more precise work, and screws in on the side of the top segment. After attaching the stand, it needs to be removed before you can fold it back down. I got the longer version so there's plenty of space for my mouse. I've also tried using it as part of a standing desk, and that was fine, too. One thing to note: The metal surface does collect fingerprints really easily. This can be annoying if you like your stuff spotless.

If you know you'll be working from home for a while, this unbranded Foldable Adjustable Laptop Stand is cheap and good. There are plenty of similar-looking stands sold online, but this shop on Shopee has a few variations to choose from and was the cheapest from what I could find. You can also grab it from Lazada.
