There's really a lot to like about the Ecovacs Deebot T9+. It comes loaded with a ton of functions, including a built-in air freshener, a mopping module, app control and mapping, and an auto cleaning docking station. It's a great robot vacuum to consider if you're hunting for one.
Quick specs
- Automatic carpet detection and vacuum power adjustment
- Ecovacs app, Google Home support
- 67dBA noise value
- 5,200mAh battery with 6.5hr charging time
The T9 version comes without the auto-empty station. All you need to do is to put the air freshener module in. The air freshener lasts for 60 days and comes in with three different scents. You can also switch it out to use the mop module. However, the Deebot T9+ with the station takes a bit of work to set up. You will need to change the bin to one that's compatible with the station. The bin has two flaps at the bottom where the station can suck out the dust inside. The auto-empty station's 2.5L bag can store up to 30 days of dirt.

When starting out for the first time, the Deebot T9 will make a map of your house first. It uses laser detection and can avoid cables and obstacles on the floor. I've seen it cleverly avoid my pet bowls, chair legs, and my legs. It's also smart enough to know where it is even if you move it, and you can also set up no-go lines with the Ecovacs app. I note one instance where it became confused and kept running into the line though. The app also lets you view your place in 3D, though this is pure gimmick. Other features include setting the frequency of cleaning, the number of repeats, and water flow level with the Ozmo Pro mop module installed.

Cleaning takes about 60 minutes per run, but battery life is rated at three hours. The default Standard suction setting isn't very loud. In fact, you'll barely hear it. The Max and Max+ are noticeably louder and comparable to my Neato D6. You can change this on the fly by using the app. When the mopping module is installed, the T9 automatically avoids carpets, and scrubs the floor pretty clean with its vibrating mop. However, you can only use water with the mop — and the mop head is supposed to be replaced after every run. I do think you can wash it with some soap and reuse it for at least once though. I'll confess I've already reused it twice.
Retailing at around S$818 when discounted, the Deebot T9+ is a great buy for a robot vacuum. It works well in picking up loose pet hair, dirt, and debris around the home. I really like it. You can also get the version without the auto-empty station for around S$639 with discount. Do note that you will need to constantly buy mop, dirt bag, and HEPA filter replacements. Get it on Shopee and Lazada. Alternatively, consider the Samsung Jet Bot+ Robot Vacuum which offers similar suction performance and slightly better navigation with no-go lines, but without the mopping.
