The Creative SXFI Gamer is a headphone packed with great, expansive sound. That's mostly due to the Super X-Fi technology it comes with, which delivers immersive sound customized to your ears. A Battle Mode helps deliver the sound of footsteps and bullets clearer to give you an edge in matches.

You will need a smartphone app to map your ear and face shape first. After which, download the SFXI Control app on your PC or Mac to upload your audio profile to the headset with the braided Kevlar USB Type-C cable. The magic of Creative's Super X-Fi technology works by knowing that everyone listens differently based on ear shapes, and uses computational audio to deliver customized, expansive sound to an individual. It sounds like magic, and it works.
The SXFI Gamer works with a Nintendo Switch or PS4, a feature also found on the SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless. The 50mm neodymium drivers deliver great balanced sound on its own, with great clarity on the highs and mids as well as strong booming bass. The soundstage really expands when you turn on Super X-Fi mode, and suddenly you're in a much bigger space. You become more aware of where things are around you, such as bullets whizzing by and people trying to sneak up on you. Battle Mode adds another dimension, muting (somewhat) the background sounds, and making bullet and footstep sounds even clearer.
The leatherette memory foam cushions are comfortable, even after an hour of play time. Be warned that our humid weather may cause the leatherette to peel, but replacing the cushions is pretty simple. The volume button, located next to the Super X-Fi button on the left headphone lets you adjust on the fly. The detachable noise-cancelling Commander Mic works as advertised, delivering clear voice even when I had a fan blowing straight at it. The RGB colors can also be changed (I didn't bother).
Creative's SXFI Gamer is a great affordable headphone at just S$179 from Creative's own online store with free delivery. If you have Amazon Prime, you can save S$4 by ordering it from there. If you don't, then be prepared for hefty shipping charges. Alternatively, the S$219 SteelSeries Arctis 3 Bluetooth can be considered if you're looking for wireless options.
