If you've been staring at your screen for the better part of the day, it might be a good idea to get a light to illuminate your desk. After all, a well-lit desk helps with eye fatigue. The BenQ ScreenBar Eye Care LED Monitor Light does this well, including an auto-brightness feature if you don't want to micro manage the light.
- Color temp range: 2700K – 6500K
- Light range: 60cm x 30cm
- Aluminium and polycarbonate build
Like the Baseus i-wok Series Monitor LED Screen Hanging Light the BenQ ScreenBar uses a counterweight to keep the light balanced. It's pretty secure, even when I'm moving my monitor around on its arm. It's pretty simple to use, just plug in the USB-A cable into a port, ideally one on your monitor, and it's good to go.
On the ScreenBar are four buttons: Power, auto, temperature, and brightness. Unfortunately, there's no up or down, so you cycle through 15 brightness options and 8 different temperature settings. You can also adjust by holding down the button. I prefer just using the auto-dimmer option, the light sensor will choose the best setting. It works great. There's also no glare on the screen.
Adjusting the angle of the light is simple. There's a 10 degree range, which easily illuminates the area in front of the display as well. You get about 500 lux of brightness that will light up about 30cm from the display. The ScreenBar also supports monitors that are 1 to 3cm thick. If you want to have more manual control, there's also a ScreenBar Plus version that comes with a dial.
Retailing at S$159, the BenQ ScreenBar Eye Care LED Monitor Light isn't cheap. Especially when compared to the Baseus monitor light, which is a fifth of the price last I checked. But it does have more features, lighting modes, and the auto-dimmer works great. Get it from Shopee or Lazada.
