Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1: Reliable Qi2 charging

Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1: Reliable Qi2 charging

The Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1 charges an iPhone along with a pair of AirPods wirelessly, and does so while adhering to the Qi2 wireless standard. Qi2 essentially gives you a charging experience similar to Apple's Magsafe implementation, with charging speeds up to 15W, and magnets that help align your phone to the charging pad for optimal performance.

Quick specs:

  • Qi2 wireless charging for iPhone up to 15W
  • 313g with soft-touch finish
  • Charges at 15W (iPhone), 5W (AirPods), and 5W (wired USB-C)
  • 2-year warranty

Available in white or black, the Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1 is pill-shaped, and sports two wireless charging pads. If you are charging an iPhone with Magsafe, the magnets hold the charger and smartphone together quite tightly. So while the Belkin is quite heavy at 313g, it will still lift off the tabletop slightly when you remove your phone. The second charging pad on the right doesn't have magnets, and can be used to recharge earbud cases like the AirPods Pro wireless charging case.

In addition to the two devices, a USB-C charging port is available on the right. The most obvious use case for this is to connect your Apple Watch charging cable to complete the Apple trio of phone, earbuds and smartwatch. In fact, Belkin has a similar product called the BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1, that's essentially the same thing with a detachable USB-C Apple Watch charger. Nevertheless, you can use the USB-C port to charge anything you like using a cable.

Do note that the Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1 doesn't come with a power adapter. I tested it with a Apple 30W adapter, and a third-party 35W adapter, and both worked fine. With three devices charging simultaneously, I measured a maximum output of about 20W using a USB-C voltage and amperage meter. This is consistent with the product's rated 20W max output. When charging one item at a time, the Qi2 pad for your iPhone goes up to 15W, AirPods charge up to 5W and the USB-C output is also at 5W.

The Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1 is meant for iPhone users as Apple smartphones are the only ones supporting Qi2 right now. Granted, it will charge your Android phone if it supports wireless charging, but they probably won't have the magnets in place to take advantage of the Qi2 magnetic pad. Furthermore, if your Android phone supports wireless charging much higher than 15W, it makes more sense to use the brand's own wireless charger.

If you're primarily in the Apple ecosystem, the Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1 works well to keep your devices charged. Do note it is quite pricey at S$99 from Shopee and Lazada, and you have to factor in the additional cost of a 30W power adapter. If you prefer a more compact solution with the Apple Watch charger built in, you can also consider the Belkin 2-in-1 Wireless Charging Dock, which is Magsafe, but not Qi2 certified. Note that the BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1 is currently sold out, but stocks will be replenished from May 7.
