Belkin BoostCharge Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 5K + Stand review: Power add-on

Belkin BoostCharge Magnetic Power Bank

I'm quite a fan of wireless charging power banks, and the Belkin BoostCharge Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 5K + Stand has easily become my favourite. It replaces the Xiaomi Magnetic Wireless Power Bank I've been using, because of its handy built-in stand.

Quick specs

  • Dimensions: 95.5mm x 65mm x 15.5mm
  • Weight: 150g
  • Max power: 5,000mAh
  • Includes 1m USB-C to USB-C cable

To be frank, this Belkin Power Bank probably isn't for everyone. It's a bit chunkier than the Xiaomi's slim 12mm body, but only by a bit. At 15.5mm, it's honestly not that much thicker, but feels it. Like the Xiaomi power bank, it features a soft rubber material, but only at the back where it touches your phone. The front of the power bank is a hard plastic shell. My Marvel-themed version features a sweet-looking gold-embossed Iron Man.

Also located at the back is a kickstand, which allows you to prop the phone up either horizontally or vertically. It attaches to the iPhone thanks to MagSafe, and supports the iPhone 12 up to the iPhone 15. I tested the power bank on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, as well as on the iPhone 15 Plus, and the Belkin gadget held on pretty firmly. Because it's MagSafe certified, it delivers 7.5W of wireless charging, and can do 10W charging through its USB-C port. It can also do passthrough charging, meaning you can charge the power bank while wirelessly charging your iPhone.

Note that you can also use this power bank to charge other Qi wireless devices. However, it won't magnetically attach to them. Belkin says the power bank will add around 19 hours of extra uptime for your phone, but that's based on an iPhone 13. For an iPhone 15 Pro Max, I charged my phone from 50% to 80% which took about one bar (or 25%, give or take). That means you'll get one full charge at the very least. That's honestly pretty good. You can also monitor the power bank's battery level by looking at the charging level indicator at the side.

At S$80, the Belkin BoostCharge Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 5K + Stand is more expensive compared with Xiaomi's offering, but this one comes with a S$2,500 connected equipment warranty. This covers damage your devices may receive when used with this Belkin charger. I also like that it fits in my man pouch easily, and I can just whip it out when I need a quick boost. The Marvel themed version costs S$109. Get from Shopee or Lazada.
