It's been five months since the launch of the Apple iPhone 12. By now, third-party iPhone cases are a dime and a dozen, with prices having also fallen accordingly. However, the variety makes it a bit difficult to find a good one. That said, the Baseus Wing Case for iPhone is a pretty good buy if you're looking for something that doesn't add bulk.
Quick specs
- 5.5g, 0.4mm thick
- Polypropylene
- Black, green or white colors
At 0.4mm thick, the Wing feels like it's barely there. It wraps around your phone completely, and sits flush. This is good and bad. Good, because it keeps the clean lines of the iPhone 12, but bad because it doesn't sit a little out to protect your screen when you place the phone flat down.
Other design cues include a matte rear for better grip, and the Wing case does protrude a little around the camera hole to protect your lenses. Wireless charging also works with the Baseus case, and the no-brand MagSafe charger I had with me seemed to attach fine without losing grip. Official Apple cases feature magnets to help keep the MagSafe charger in place.
The case is easy to slip on and slips off fine. This is unlike the Apple cases, which are easy to put on, but really hard to remove. The one thing I don't like about the case is that the buttons are flushed against it and are hard to press. Thicker cases usually have a cover over the buttons to make them easier to press.
Retailing at S$4.55, the Baseus Wing Case for iPhone is cheap and pretty good. It comes in three transparent colors, white, black or green. The white lets you view your phone's original colors, which I liked. I haven't tried out the black or green versions, but they should hide or change your phone's hue.
